Lucano Vermouth del Cavaliere 750ml
Country of origin: Italy Alcohol content: 18% Alcohol by Volume
The Vena family produce Vermouth according to a historical recipe and still follow the production process of the past. Very well balanced, with a good bitter sweet harmony and excellent body. It is a typical red wine based Vermouth without the addition of caramel.
It is produced in Pisticci (MT) starting from a red wine of Piedmontese origin, which gives it a natural ruby color, which does not require the addition of caramel. The addition of sugar, alcohol and a mixture of officinal herbs gives it the unmistakable aroma that makes it versatile for use in mixing. It has a Mediterranean style flavour profile and is a lovely sipping Vermouth.
Enjoy neat, chilled or on ice.
Amaro Lucano was originally created in 1894 by Pasquale Vena, a pastry chef who blended more than 30 herbs - some of them being wormwood, absinthe gentile, clary sage, achillea moscata, cardo santo, sweet orange, angelica, gentian, elder, rue and aloe - into a wonderful tincture. In 1900 Amaro Lucano gained notoriety all over the Kingdom of Italy, after the Vena family became the official supplier to the House of Savoy, whose coat of arms appears on the label.
In 1950, the workshop became an industrial enterprise under the management of Vena's sons Leonardo and Giuseppe and in 1965 a new factory in the frazione Pisticci Scalo was opened.
