SHIPPING INFORMATION

Shipping is from Melbourne, Australia. (International orders - please scroll down for important information)

AUSTRALIA 

*See Liquor Licensing Law WARNING at bottom of page. You must be over 18 to order bitters or other products containing alcohol. 

We use Australia Post Standard and Express Post for shipping. Both services offer tracking, a link to which will be emailed to you upon dispatch. 

Signature: By default, all orders require a signature upon delivery. Orders can be left without a signature if requested, with the exception of products that contain alcohol, including bitters. If no one is available to sign for the parcel, a collection card will be left in your post box advising you of the nearest Post Office or other outlet where it will be held for you to pick up. Please make sure you take your ID in order to pick up the parcel. 

Postage Charges and delivery estimates:

Australia Post Express -  NOT AN OVERNIGHT SERVICE 

Express postage will be calculated at checkout based on weight. We will pack and dispatch your order by the next business day. Australia Post currently does not provide an estimated shipping time due to COVID-19 delays, but we do know that this service can be several days faster than standard post. Please check the Australia Post website for further information. "Fitzroy VIC 3065” can be used in the “From” field when calculating delivery times to your area.

During holiday periods these times may increase by 1–2 days.

Australia Post Standard

The option of Parcel or Wine Post will be presented depending on which is cheaper. In most cases we will pack and dispatch your order within 2 business days of your order being placed.

  • Orders over $200 - FREE SHIPPING
  • Orders under $200 - Calculated at checkout based on weight.

Once the order is dispatched, we provide the following guidelines for the transit time of your order (a bit longer now due to COVID-19).

The majority of orders arrive well within these transit times, however if your order has still not arrived after the transit times above, please contact us

Christmas Orders: Please add 2+ days. Please note - Australia Post recommends that orders are placed before Dec 12 for delivery across Australia in time for Christmas. Delivery may be quicker for metro VIC and NSW.

Melbourne Pick-Up:

We also offer the option to pick up your order from our shop in Fitzroy. Simply choose ‘Collect @ The Bitters Lab' when selecting a shipping option. We will contact you once the order is ready with instructions for collection, usually within 1-2 business days. Please note that the order is not ready for collection until these instructions have been sent to you.

INTERNATIONAL

COVID-19 DELAYS- We expect delays of up to 2 -3 weeks due to flight cancellations and government restrictions due to COVID-19.  Australia has suspended services to some countries. Please check auspost.com.au for availability

Importation of Alcohol: Some countries do not allow the importation of alcohol. Please check with your customs office if unsure to avoid the goods being turned back at the border. International orders may be subject to customs or import duties and applicable taxes on the importation of alcohol. These potential additional costs are the responsibility of the importer, not Only Bitters. If an order is turned back due to import restrictions, or failure to pay duties or taxes, we will assess whether a refund can be issued when the parcel is returned in good condition. This refund will be for the goods only, less the cost of postage and other expenses incurred.  

US/CANADA Customers: Sorry - no spirits, liqueurs or vermouths can be ordered from this site. Bitters and non-alcoholic items... go for it!

Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST): Australian GST is 10%, and is built into our prices.  When you enter an international address for shipping this will be removed from the total price.

Shipping Method:  We use the EMS international postal network through Australia Post. Once the parcel reaches the destination country it is handled by the domestic postal service. This is an express international service, please allow for 4-7 working days for the arrival of your parcel. However, some customers do experience delays due to their country's customs office. You can use your tracking number with your country's postal tracking to check the status of the parcel. If tracking shows the parcel has reached customs, it may be awaiting communication between the customs office and yourself. If your order does not arrive within 14 days, please contact us to investigate.

Charges: International shipping charges are calculated by weight. We have a built-in postage calculator which can be used during check-out. Please keep in mind that bottled liquids in glass bottles can be heavy, and international express shipping can be expensive. Postage prices charged at check-out are the same as what is charged to us by Australia Post.

 

RETURNS POLICY

You may return unopened items within 14 days of delivery for a full refund or exchange, if the items are damaged or otherwise not as described. There are no exchanges or refunds for change of mind, so please select carefully.  We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you receive an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund earlier. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

Under the Australian Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 it is an offence
- To supply alcohol to a person under the age of 18 years (Penalty exceeds $19,000)
- For a person under the age of 18 years to purchase or receive liquor. (Penalty exceeds $800)  
 
DELIVERY OF LIQUOR - DUE TO LIQUOR LICENSING LAWS :
- Liquor must be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. Evidence of age may be required where appropriate.
- Liquor will not be delivered and left at unoccupied premises on same day the order is received.
- Liquor will only be delivered during the following hours:
    - between 9am and 11pm on any day other than Sunday, Good Friday, Anzac Day or Christmas Day.
    - between 10am - 11pm on Sunday.
    - between 12 noon and 11pm on Anzac Day.
    - No deliveries are permitted on Christmas Day or Good Friday.
