Country of origin:   Scotland          Alcohol content: 45% Alcohol by Volume

Originally produced by the Blemmerg Manufacturing Company in Boston during the late 1800s, Orinoco Aromatic Bitters were the bitters selected to feature throughout George Winter’s book, How to Mix Drinks: The Barkeeper’s Handbook. In fact it was a full page advert in this aforementioned tome which inspired their creation and subsequent global launch in 2012.  Named after one of the longest rivers in South America which runs through Colombia and predominantly Venezuela, Orinoco Aromatic Bitters hark back to a bygone era but also embrace modern cocktail culture, giving bartenders the opportunity to recreate former classics but also construct their own.

Cinnamon, cola, clove, cacao and hints of coffee on the nose. Notes of spicy clove and warm, sweet baking spice flavours continue into bitter orange and cardamom backed up by dried fruit throughout. Long bittersweet finish with hints of molasses.

Pair with aged spirits, genever, falernum, citrus, honey, ston fruits, fortified wine, pineapple, citrus, coffee, chocolate, almond, peanut, vanilla, and cream.

About The House of Botanicals:

Situated underneath Aberdeen’s railway line and next door to its largest shopping centre, Union Square, The House of Botanicals is a 2500 square foot unit which is a combination of gin distillery, liqueurist, bitters manufactory, tasting room and shop. While now producing a range of products, it all started in the late 2000s with The Jerry Thomas Project—an endeavour by Adam Elan-Elmigirab to recreate all the drinks from Professor Thomas’ seminal tome The Bon-Vivant's Companion. It was this venture which conceived the reformulation of Boker’s Bitters, and later Dr. Adam Elmegirab’s Bitters Ltd; now trading as The House of Botanicals.
