Not a typical tonic, No. 5 is made with lime and lemon juice, cane sugar, and cinchona bark—the source of quinine for tonic.

Fresh grapefruits are peeled and torched to extract bitter, yet refreshing citrus notes. Just a hint of local Bulls Bay Saltworks sea salt adds to the savory caramel notes of the tonic, nicely balancing the flavours.

A citrus forward tonic syrup with a refreshing bitterness from the unique addition of charred grapefruit. A touch of salinity enhancing the flavours.

Enjoy with a white spirit, and top with soda water.

Pairing Suggestion: Tanqueray No. 10, Melbourne Gin Company Dry, or East London Dry Gin.

Refrigerate after opening.

Contains quinine.

About BITTERMILK

Bittermilk, hand crafted cocktail mixer compounds, are designed for the modern day cocktail enthusiast. Husband and wife team, Mari Elena and Joe Raya developed Bittermilk to simplify the process of making craft cocktails at home. These compounds are the first of their kind, each hand made and hand bottled in a small production in Charleston. The products are sourced with all-natural, organic and unique ingredients. Bittermilk Compounded Mixers allow the customer to mix up unique, quality cocktails following a simple ratio of Bittermilk to their choice of spirit. Each of the products use a bittering agent, a sweetener, and an acid to achieve a balanced cocktail. Inspired by what goes into making a classic cocktail, complimenting botanicals and aromatics are added to brighten flavor. Creative techniques are used to maximize flavours; things like roasting, burning, smoking, barrel aging, percolating and macerating for an amazing end product.

We say, to make a cocktail, “the labor is in the bottle, just add booze”.

Makes on average 17 servings.

Marmalade in a tonic

By: on 8 January 2016
I love this one and keep coming back for more - it's like grapefruit marmalade that's been taken just to the edge as it's cooked. Not too sweet. I drink it with soda mostly, sometimes add gin.

Grapefruit! Really!

Lovely, lingering salty aftertaste to this syrup. Mid-range bitterness, but impressively complex flavours; fabulously refreshing with or without booze. Great value at this price too.

Perfectly balanced

My first bottle of this disappeared far too quickly… I've used it in G&T, but I actually love it just on its own with soda. A perfect balance of sweet and bitter.
