Country of origin:   Greece        Alcohol content: 17% ABV

In 1850 the first Greek vermouth was created by Ioannis Voucher by appointment of the philhellenic King Otto I of Greece. Athenians kept this vermouth cool in their cellar and enjoyed it straight as an aperitif. By 1960 the enfant gâté of Athens mingled with the international jet set, spending their nights until the first light of sun. The drink of the time was of course vermouth, enjoyed in a highball glass with ice and soda. Today Athens plays host to the creativity of bartenders and artists alike, with the resulting demand for authentic, storied drinks bringing Athens vermouth back into the spotlight once more!

High quality Greek wine from the Attica region is infused with rose petals, wormwood, angelica, citrus, olive leaves, kumquat, and oregano grown under the Athenian sun, creating a uniquely Greek flavour.

Greek wine and mediterranean herbs such as oregano and rosemary produce a light, fresh and versatile sweet vermouth. Rose petals and citrus round out the more herbatious botanicals to provide a complex experience, while still remaining recogniseably sweet.

Enjoy in an Athenian Spritz, Negroni, Martinez, or simply over ice with an orange twist... under the sun, of course.

About Otto's:

On the upper floor of a neoclassical building a few steps away from Otto’s house, a passionate team revived the great times of Greek vermouth past and crafted the first bottle of what would become Otto’s Athens Vermouth.
