Cynar is a bitter liqueur known for its versatility and taste, deriving its name from the botanical name for artichoke—Cynar scolymus. It is pronounced "chee-NAR" and although the name comes from artichoke, the majority of the flavour comes from the 12 other botanicals used in its production.

A medium bitter amaro showing notes of dried fruits, orange, tobacco, caramel, and a subtle vegetal character, finishing with a lovely lingering bitterness.

Pairs well with Tequila, Aquavit, and Sherry. Try in a Trident, The Art of Choke, Drunk Uncle, or Cynar Flip.

About Cynar:

Cynar was created in 1952 by Angelo Dalle Molle and gained popularity through an advertising campaign starting in the 1960s featuring Ernesto Calindri drinking Cynar in the middle of Milan traffic with the slogan "contro il logorio della vita moderna", or "against the stress of modern life". Cynar was bought by Campari Group in 1995.
