Country of origin:   Italy        Alcohol content: 32% ABV

This classic Italian liqueur is an infusion of aromatic herbs using an old family recipe. It has distinctive hints of anise, saffron and violet, a fair bit of carameley tones, and an array of other less subtle spices. It is both subtly bitter and beautifully balanced. This one beautiful and complex Amaro.

Great served and sipped after dinner as a digestif with or without ice and a slice of orange.

Due to both the mix of herbs and botanicals of many of its fellow amari, but not nearly the bitterness of its cohorts, it can substitute in for where vermouths are called for in drinks such as Manhattans. It also works well with just a long pour of soda or it can add depth and character to a sour. It works both great in Summer and Winter cocktails.

It scored 93 points in 2014 from Wine Enthusiast.

For over 140 years, the Meletti family have been producing their famous Anisetta liqueur from their own distillate and locally grown star anise. Ascoli Piceno’s combo of Mediterranean climate and clayey soil are perfect for growing fine spices, and the anise has been part of the scenery for centuries. The family use much the same methods as were originally practiced, meaning a liqueur that is far from a mass produced product. Each of the elements are of the highest quality, and the family themselves are a pleasure to deal with. These are timeless, and find many uses in recipes and cocktails, as well as behind a bar.
