Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin 700ml
- NOT FOR SALE TO US/CANADA CUSTOMERS
Country of origin: Australia Alcohol content: 37.8% Alcohol by Volume
Four Pillar's home is in the Yarra Valley, where their neighbours make some of the finest wines in the world. So each year, they steep Yarra Valley Shiraz grapes in gin, and after eight weeks they press the fruit before blending with more Rare Dry Gin.
2019 was a terrific season for Victorian cool climate Shiraz. And that has provided another belter of a Bloody Shiraz Gin vintage. After a good spring rain, summer brought serious heat resulting in more dominant dark fruit notes than 2018 – tons of delicious plum and blackberry.
Straight up you’ve got those pine forest notes, white pepper and spices, and the gin is beautifully balanced with a delicious sweetness and nice tannins to finish.
The ABV of this totally unique gin is 37.8%, unlike Sloe Gin where the alcohol less than 30%. So it packs a punch and is ideal in a range of cocktails. The gin is unfiltered, so it will develop secondary fruit characters beyond two years, and is best consumed within two years of vintage.
Drink it young and fresh with red berry and spice characters, or enjoy it as it develops.
Try it simply with lemon tonic or substitute it in cocktails that call for sweet vermouth.
About Four Pillars:
Four Pillars Distillery was established with a clear purpose in mind. They wanted to elevate the craft of distilling in Australia and celebrate the art of cocktail making.
The founders of Four Pillars (three bald pillars: Stu, Matt and Cam) have always loved gin and cocktails. And Cam and Stu have worked in wine for more years than they’d care to remember.
Their drive to create Four Pillars can be summed up as follows: "We just love great drinks, we love cocktails, and we love craft."
Then followed years of research, test-distilling, importing and commissioning a bespoke copper pot still, filing forms with the government, sourcing the best botanicals from across Australia and around the world, and custom-making an amazing bottle to finally bring you Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin in December 2013.
Crafted in a truly modern Australian style their first release gin captures the flavours of both Asia and the Mediterranean. Four Pillars Distillery uses a copper pot still from CARL Artisan Stills in Germany, and produces in small batches of just 460 bottles which are then individually numbered and labeled.
