Crafted from Polish Hill River Gewürztraminer and fortified with unused spirit from the Applewood distillery, aromatised with oranges to create a vibrant, tropical cousin to Vermouth otherwise known as a Mistelle. Enjoy over ice or in a Spritz. 17% ABV.

1 x Bittermilk Charred Grapefruit Tonic Syrup 502ml

Not a typical tonic, No. 5 is made with lime and lemon juices, cane sugar, along with cinchona bark, the source of quinine for tonic. Fresh grapefruit is peeled and torched to extract bitter yet refreshing citrus notes. Just a hint of Bulls Bay Saltworks sea salt brings out savory caramel notes and rounds out the flavours.

THE SPRITZ COCKTAIL'S HISTORY

The Spritz was invented in the 1800s when the Hapsburgs ruled over Venice. The various Hapsburg soldiers, merchants, and diplomats were not used to the higher alcohol content of the local wine from Veneto and so asked for a spritzen, or splash, of water to be added. The original Spritz was sparkling white or red wine diluted with water. 

With the growing popularity of aperitivo amari the Spritz gradually developed into the smashable summer sensation we know today as a mix of aperitivo bitter, sparkling wine, and a dash of soda.

This variation preserves the elements of the classic spritz, but reintroduces them through alternate ingredients: the wine and spirit coming through the fortified Økar Tropic mistelle, the bitterness and bubbles coming from the tonic, and bright citrus pervading all elements.
